Yaama (hello)
My name is Jessi Rebel and I am a proud Wiradjuri person, living and creating on Wadawurrung Country. I grew up on Biripai Country, on the mid north coast of New South Wales, and made the move south in early 2016.
My life has been shaped by my connection to Country and Sea Country, growing up in the bush by the ocean, and having a father who loved surfing and passed that passion on to my younger sister and I. My artistic journey began at a young age, through my mother encouraging creativity and watching my Aunty Lisa paint up since I was young.
Apart from art, I have studied and worked in the youth and mental health industry, and I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Therapy. Connection to self and community are instrumental in the way I live my life, and I want my art to continue to create opportunities for connection and reflection, passing on my knowledge and experience to those around me so that they can pursue the paths they want.
I have stepped into the world of mural painting, which is unfolding in its own way. I thoroughly enjoy collaborative based murals, working with others to create and tell stories and help it come to life on a wall.
